This talk will explore the U.S. Army’s VCI (Vehicle Cone Index) testing procedures, used to evaluate the ability of ground vehicles to traverse over soft soils. VCI indicates the minimum soil strength required for a ground vehicle to make a specific number of passes (usually one or fifty passes). Over the years, the U.S. Army has used the VCI test as a performance specification method. A more detailed abstract is to be announced.
