We seek input from you, our ISTVS members. The purpose of the ISTVS Resource Initiative is to develop content that is useful and of interest to undergraduates, postgraduates, researchers, and engineers, particularly those who do not have ready access to resources and tuition. The project is a chance to help your ISTVS colleagues and terramechanics students and transfer some of your knowledge, insight, useful media, and links to internet resources.
While most of us are working from home, we spend a lot of time searching the internet for useful information. Have you found any new useful websites in the last few weeks related to terramechanics?
If you only have a few minutes
Send us a list of the most useful terramechanics websites you use or Youtube video links to some aspect of terramechanics.
If you have some more time
Do you have pictures and video of tyre testing and single wheel testing with a short accompanying commentary? If you have read a new book, on vehicle design, experimental methods, climate change, etc. a book review could be of value to colleagues. Do you have a list of the most useful references in your specialist area?
If you have more time
A report on the work carried out at your institution, and media showing the test facilities would be of interest to the terramechanics community. A short report on a new experimental method or test equipment or interesting set of results would give you something to add to your list of CV publications.
The ISTVS Resource Initiative will also provide a legacy of the work in the field going back through to the sixties. The history of this relatively young field will be helpful to those new to terramechanics.
The general content includes:
- annotated bibliography for books and papers;
- useful websites of information, data, video, papers linked to terramechanics;
- photographs, video, or descriptions of test equipment, wheel testing, demonstrations, interesting vehicles;
- useful YouTube links, preferably with a short intro;
- topics that don’t warrant a full paper but may be useful to share with colleagues through a report or short article;
- information about new standards and test procedures, for example, around acceptable levels of ride vibration;
- terramechanics-related ebooks;
- standards, regulations, health and safety;
- new developments in areas such as climate change, vehicle technology, databases, software, etc.
Please direct emails for the ISTVS Resource Initiative using ri@istvs.org or individual editors. We can then direct the correspondence to the appropriate member of the ISTVS Resource Initiative team.
