Dear colleagues,

this is Ramon Gonzalez, editor of Journal of Terramechanics and guest editor together with Lutz Richter of the forthcoming Special Issue on AI applied to Terramechanics.

The world is seeing a revolutionary technology flooding every corner of science and engineering: artificial intelligence (AI). AI comprises an excellent partner for terramechanics not only for designing and evaluating the performance of cross-country vehicles either in software simulations or in real tests, but also for enabling autonomous mobility in extreme terrains as in unmanned ground vehicles and mobile robots like autonomous military vehicles, autonomous agricultural tractors, and planetary exploration rovers.

This forthcoming Special Issue aspires to be a complete and comprehensive reference on this trending topic for the entire terramechanics community.

For that reason, we would like to kindly encourage you to submit your research to this SI. You can find more information and submission deadlines here:

In addition, I would like to take advantage of this message in order to kindly ask you to share it with your colleagues who could be interested in contributing to this Special Issue.

Please do not hesitate to contact me in case of needing further information or if you have any thoughts or suggestions that could improve our effort in the Journal of Terramechanics.

Best regards,
Ramon
