An informal watch party for the landing of China’s Mars Zhurong rover

The International Society for Vehicle-Terrain Systems cordially invites you to attend an informal watch party for the landing of China’s Mars Zhurong rover later today:

Where: https://hopin.com/events/tianwen1-watch-party
Date: Friday, May 14
Time: 6:30PM to 7:40PM EDT | 22:30 UTC to 23:40 UTC

Join our rover design professionals ISTVS Vice President Lutz Richter and our Journal of Terramechanics Editor Ramon Gonzalez for a live conversation about the Zhurong rover mission to Mars and to watch for the first news of the Tianwen-1 landing.

Time of watch party subject to change | We'll send an email update out on Friday, May 14, if we learn of a change to the landing time.

Event is free | Registration is required. Choose member or non-member and checkout to sign up. You'll be asked to create a Hopin account, our event platform, that you can use for other live ISTVS events over the coming year.

Shortly after the predicted touchdown time, Chinese media and online sources will be reporting on the landing — Weibo and Andrew Jones following the Chinese space program and tweeting about it — and we will share together in real-time.

The first Chinese Mars mission, Tianwen-1 reached Mars orbit in February. After scouting the planned landing site in Utopia Planitia from orbit for the past two months, the descent module with lander and rover has now been confirmed to be released for descent to Mars to touchdown on Friday, May 14, 23:11 UTC!
