In our last email Newswire, we reported that after ten years of service, Lutz Richter had asked to begin the process of stepping down from the position of ISTVS General Secretary.
Now I'm pleased to have the honor of introducing our new General Secretary, Mr. Massimo Martelli.
Massimo received his Laurea quinquennale (MSc) in electronic engineering from the University of Ferrara, Italy, in 2000. He started working at IMAMOTER, the Institute for Agricultural and Earthmoving Machines of the National Research Council of Italy in 2000. In 2005, he joined HP Hydraulic to develop electronic traction control systems. He returned to IMAMOTER as a full-time researcher in 2009 where he is currently co-head of the Mechatronics research area.
His major research interests are analysis of hydraulic systems, implementation of control systems, hybridization/electrification of actuators for agricultural, earthmoving, and off-road machinery. He also teaches the oil hydraulic systems course at the University of Ferrara.
As for his career with ISTVS, he became National Secretary of Italy in 2017. With the suggestion and endorsement of Lutz Richter, Massimo was nominated and then elected as our new ISTVS General Secretary at the Board of Directors meeting last summer at our Kyoto conference. After the conference, Massimo began collaborating with Lutz to transition into the role.
Thank you, Massimo, for agreeing to serve as our General Secretary!
